မန္တ​လေး​ရတနာပုံ ​နေပြည်​တော်ကို သိမ်း​ပိုက်ရန်အတွက် ၁၈၈၅ ခုနှစ် နိုဝင်ဘာလ ၃ ရက်​နေ့​တွင် ဗိုလ်ချုပ်ပရင်ဒါဂတ် ဦး​ဆောင်​သော ဗြိတိသျှတပ်များ​အား​ တင်​ဆောင်လာသည့်​ မီး​သ​င်္ဘော S.S.Clive နှင့်​ S.S.Tenasserim တို့​ အိန္ဒိယနိုင်ငံ မဒရပ်မြို့​မှ ထွက်ခွာလာစဉ်။

“In the former of these General Prendergast left Madras for Rangoon on the 3rd November, 1885, in command of the Burma Expeditionary Force.
